General Discussion / question; where is ANYTHING here located?
« Last post by squiciene on December 03, 2017, 01:01:58 pm »
really..... i just made a first attempt at posting some images of the new trep war ring map on this site for others to see.  i put it in a location that seemed somewhat appropriate since i dont see anywhere specifically designated for that kind of thing.

i think there was a problem & the pics did not upload.  but i really have no clue where to look because i forgot where the hell i put it.

i sincerely beleive this site would benefit greatly from a better categorized inventory. im not trying to bust balls here, im just trying to navigate.

where is the best place for non-development team people to see this, & what do i need to do to upload pics for people to see?

SHIT - i just did it again!!!   i cant remember what forum i am currently placing this in!

i noticed somewhere in the forums that you guys were looking for ideas for new weapons.

how about an epoxy shot gun.  when hit with it, it splashes all over the bot & no immediate damage is done. but as the epoxy dries your bot slows down & will eventually completely stop & then die.

sound good?

hi Gigabyte

you might be on to something here. but i would do it just a bit differently. something i found out over 25 years of RPG Game Mastering, is that you cant just kill off players for no reason, or at random.  its not fun, & i think most people playing a FPS would also be turned off by it.

but consider this alternative, instead of death zones, which sound like they are not visually well defined? ...what about random areas that give you health slowly while you are in it, & random areas that take health away slowly, areas that do the same with armor.  have the areas change in game once every 5 minutes.

also instead of giving a random weapon, why not make it so the program randomly chooses 4 players & gives each one of them one random item, like the gold armor, or the quad, or the jet pack, or the running shoes.

i think it sounds appealing this way, what do you guys think?

Hello to all. my name is Chris, otherwise known to the STVEF community as Squiciene, pronounced (SKWIS - E - EEN).  i got the name from a character i created a long time ago, & i use it solely because the name is unique & nobody else is using it.

I am 47 years old & i have been making maps for STVEF for at least 6 years now. I love map building.  I have built 31 maps to date. the list is long, so if you would like to see the list of my maps just let me know.  I think all of my maps are available for download on either of the 2 {MAC}Gladiator servers, but some may not be.

the first 1st person shooter i ever played was DOOM & i fell in love with it. the next one was Quake, & i didnt really love it. from there i eventually found STVEF, & to this day i still think that its the best 1st person shooter i have ever played.  the range of differing types of weapons fire is unmatched in any other game i have seen.  it was the first & only game i have seen that has strafe jumping in it, & i would really like to see more games with it. Could you just imagine Call Of Duty with strafe jumping?

im really excited about working on the Trepidation game. also im excited to work on a game with people whos names are familiar to me from the STVEF community of builders.

as soon as i found the program that allowed me to build maps(GTK Radiant), i was hooked & addicted. with the exception of a few tutorials i was able to find that were beginner tutorials, i am mostly self taught at map building. i think i really spend more time map building than i do playing the game, & im not sure which one i like doing more. some of my past girlfriends grew to hate GTK Radiant....... PAST girlfriends... lmao.

i have recently been working with Milkshape3D. i can now make simple models that do not move, & im not far from being able to convert other bots to STVEF, but there are still a few things i have not figured out yet.

at one time i wanted to build my own game, but coding isnt something i know.  for that matter i barely understand scripting. i still have a lot of problems with scripts, & i have much more to learn about it.  there are things i managed to create in the past, that i can no longer make, like fog.  i was only ever able to make fog in one map i made. since then i have not been able to add fog to any of my maps & i really dont know why. there are other things i have been able to do, that for some reason i can no longer do, & a few things i have never been able to do, like having a sun in the sky texture.  i have tried many times, but no success.

im looking forward to getting started on this project, & hope to be an asset to the team.

I have a blog (doesnt everyone?) I write code for a living from home and it kinda bites ass...

That's it for me.. how about you?

Pulling together a bit of a team.. slow going but, people are coming together.  Say hello here.
